Part of the holidays is traveling and spending time with loved ones, something that we at A-1 Home Care would always want for our seniors. Regardless of our seniors‘ health condition(s), our twenty-four in-home care caregivers will go above and beyond to make sure that they are not alone and are surrounded by loved ones. This includes Easter as well.

Our certified and highly skilled caretakers have a well-known knowledge of different diseases, aware and alert of the safety and patience it does take to keep our seniors well and safe. The holidays can be stressful as well, especially with studies showing an increase in many people’s stress level due to many things such as meal and gift preparation and even health concerns.

So, what can be done in order to keep our seniors safe, healthy, and even happy on the holidays?

We simply ask our seniors what they want and depending on their answer, and after consulting with their doctor if it involves any physical matter, we do what we can. If your loved one is in need of additional assistance, please contact us at our Culver City office 310-657-870 or at our main branch in Santa Fe Springs 562-929-8400.

What is Alzheimer’s disease?

It is a disease that takes over one’s memory loss, decreasing it as well as other mental functions too. It usually develops from Dementia. Often, we see this with those in their sixties and above; however, studies have indicated that more than two-hundred thousand people under the age of sixty-five have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

We have seen it in the movies and books, such as Still Alice, where a woman in her late forties starts experiencing memory loss and additional signs that, ultimately, results to early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Although this is seen in a form of media, such as the book and movie, both do indict early signs that commonly go undiagnosed in real life. Doctors have said that it is common for many to overlook these signs due to menopause, which can have similar symptoms.

That is why it is important for everyone in general to go their routine checkups, especially if someone in your family has Alzheimer’s disease. Some early signs of Alzheimer’s disease are:

  • MEMORY LOSS THAT DISRUPTS DAILY LIFE
  • CHALLENGES IN PLANNING OR SOLVING PROBLEMS
  • DIFFICULTY COMPLETING FAMILIAR TASKS AT HOME, AT WORK OR AT LEISURE
  • CONFUSION WITH TIME OR PLACE
  • TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING VISUAL IMAGES AND SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • NEW PROBLEMS WITH WORDS IN SPEAKING OR WRITING
  • MISPLACING THINGS AND LOSING THE ABILITY TO RETRACE STEPS
  • DECREASED OR POOR JUDGMENT
  • WITHDRAWAL FROM WORK OR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
  • CHANGES IN MOOD AND PERSONALITY

A-1 Home Care specializes in Alzheimer’s disease as well as other diseases that affect millions worldwide. Our in-home caregivers work around the clock to help families whose loved one is progressing with Alzheimer’s. If you are a Culver City resident and your loved one is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, please do call us at 310-657-8780 or visit our website http://www.a-1homecare.com/ for additional branch listings in the Inland Empire Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Bernardino County.

a-1 home care arthritisHow you drink your coffee makes the difference in preventing the onset of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a prodromal stage of Alzheimer’s Disease.  Compared to those who never drink coffee, regular coffee consumers who sustain a steady habit of one or two cups a day are less likely to develop MCI.  The emphasis is on consistency; if you consume one or two cups a day, do not increase your intake.  If you don’t drink coffee at all, it wouldn’t hurt to start the delicious habit.  Coffee consumption in moderation may be vital for prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, according to the Italian Longitudinal Study on Aging. The findings of this study can be found in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Alzheimer’s Disease is a form of dementia that interferes with an elderly person’s memory, behavior and thinking.  You may recall an older adult who has trouble remembering newly learned information, or perhaps a story of someone’s grandmother wandering down the street late at night comes to mind.  In advanced stages of this dementia, it is not uncommon for someone to forget his address, the names of his children, or regular routines like brushing his teeth or taking a shower.  If you have an elderly loved one who has Alzheimer’s, it would be crucially important to find in-home care for him, especially if he lives alone.

A-1 Home Care in Culver City provides 24-hour Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care for seniors who live with their families or who live alone.  Hiring a round-the-clock live-in caregiver for your parent will give you a peace of mind.  How reassuring it is to know that someone is keeping a close watch to prevent devastating accidents!  Live-in caregivers assist with activities of daily living, such as meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, personal care, and transportation.  As awesome companions who enjoy swapping stories with seniors, A-1 Home Care’s in-home Alzheimer’s caregivers are compassionate, competent and experienced.

To hire an Alzheimer’s caregiver today, call (310) 657-8780 or visit our website www.culvercityinhomecare.com for services in Culver City, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Malibu, Redondo Beach, and other cities throughout Los Angeles County.

Senior CareAccording to the United States Census Bureau, America’s elderly population of 1.4 million will quadruple in the next 40 years.  The sad news is that cases of elder abuse are underreported, and there could be a number of seniors on your block who are currently abused verbally, emotionally, physically or financially by unethical caregivers or sadly enough, the seniors’ own family members.  If you foresee a need for home care for your parents in Culver City or nearby cities, it would be a great idea to start doing your homework now.  Research licensed, bonded and insured home care agencies like A-1 Home Care in your area, so that your elderly loved ones don’t end up in the wrong hands.

What does “licensed, bonded and insured” mean?

When a company hires employees or brings contractors on board, one way to sift through questionable characters is to be insured, licensed and bonded.  The insurance bureau that covers a home care agency such as A-1 Home Care in Culver City would not be willing to cover for damages or crime if the company brings on caregivers with a tainted criminal background.  In other words, if you hire a caregiver, certified nurse aide, home health aide, or companion through A-1 Home Care, you can rest assured that you are covered in the event of damage, theft or abuse.  Our caregivers have to pass through multiple tests and interviews before they are allowed to serve the elderly.  We also involve you in the hiring process so you get a say in who enters your home.

About A-1 Home Care

Established in 1991, A-1 Home Care has gained the trust of seniors and their families all over Los Angeles County, including cities like Culver City, Brentwood, Century City, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Hollywood, and Santa Monica.  You can hire 24 hour live-in care or hourly care for seven days a week.  Whenever you have a question, problem or concern, you can always call our 24-hour hotline and reach a live operator.  We make it a point to respond quickly to your calls and we don’t believe in answering machines.

To learn more, call A-1 Home Care today (310) 657-8780 or visit our website www.culvercityinhomecare.com for more information about home care, elder care, and caregiver services in your area.

Each year more than 795,000 Americans suffer from stroke and 40% of stroke survivors suffer a fall within a year after their stroke, according to the National Stroke Association.

Hemiparesis, the most common movement impairment suffered by stroke survivors, occurs when a person experiences weakness or the inability to move their facial muscles, arms, hands, legs, or feet one one side of their body.  This causes activities of daily living that would otherwise be considered easy, extremely difficult.  Without supervision, Hemiparesis can be dangerous.  The person’s lack of coordination makes them more vulnerable to a serious fall.  This article talks more about Hemiparesis symptoms, treatment, and management.

A-1 Home Care can provide an in-home caregiver, nurse aide, or companion to look after your loved one and ensure that they remain safe at all times.  We offer experienced and compassionate Post Stroke Care on a 24 hour live-in basis or hourly part-time basis.  We serve Culver City, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Hollywood, and other cities in Los Angeles and Orange County.

We are a Licensed Bonded and Insured homecare agency that has been in business since 1991 with an A+ Rating from the Better Business Bureau.

To interview and hire a compatible caregiver today, call us at 310 657 8780 or visit us at Culver City In Home Care.
